Would give it 6 stars if I could. It's more than a restaurant - it's an EXPERIENCE. The food is excellent, but it's more than food. The ambiance, the attention to details are amazing. Every dish is lovingly chosen and meticulously arranged. One dish had lacy leaf decorations around the plate, and a caped gooseberry on the plate. When you eat the gooseberry, you can see that the outer leaves have a lacey pattern similar to the leaves around the plate. That's how much thought goes into every detail! We also noticed a small joke: in a lot of dishes there would be a blue detail on my husband's serving, and a matching red one on mine: a napkin, a small plate, a soy sauce dish, border on a tea cup... There was a flow and continuity to the meal, and the conversation with our host was a real pleasure.

If you want the best version of Japanese food in Toronto (and culture, because the food and culture are closely related), this is the place for you! Every dish served has its own stories that comes from the chef's detail oriented and skillfull ingredient selection and cooking skills. In addition, Kei's explanation adds an invaluable experience that is unique to this place.

Nice ambience and perfect foods! The staff was very gentle and polite, explained each course in detail, and the overall service was perfection. We were lucky to experience the Japanese traditional tea ceremony after our meal, worth every penny:)

Incredible restaurant with remarkable food, definitely the most authentic Japanese establishment in Toronto if not across Canada. The traditional culinary art of Kaiseki is extremely well presented and curated. Highly recommended!
