Having a hip replacement is a big deal when you have pursued a very athletic lifestyle. My experience with Dr Cayen and Metaxia was outstanding. 2 years on I have played competitive singles tennis and table tennis at Canadian senior level. Would highly recommend the unique procedure that is used as recovery time was remarkable.

I was referred to the doctor by the emergency department at Humber River Hospital. He saw me at their Fracture Clinic. He was very understanding of my pain and discomfort. He had his assistant remove my cast and he inspected my condition and he reviewed my x-rays and sent me to Imaging where I got a cat-scan. He had another cast placed on my arm. He ended up referring me to another orthopedic surgeon and got me an appointment the next day, which was amazing. I would highly recommend him as he is very capable and thorough. I have seen many doctors over the years and he is one of the best at what he does. I spoke to some other doctors who know him and they spoke highly of him.

First I will say that the Anterior Approach surgery, which I had, has its own merits of success, but it still has to be performed by a extremely competent Surgeon. This is where Dr B comes in. On my initial visit, I just knew Dr B would be doing my surgery. I am and have been involved with Martial Arts for 45 years and have learned to read peoples eyes as they will tell me a lot. While Dr B was very business like, he was very thorough, but also took that extra time to listen to my questions, whatever they were or how insignificant they may have appeared to be, and take that extra time to answer them. Amazing!! While being in very good shape and very mentally prepared, my surgery has been an amazing success. I never realized how much pain I was living with until I had ZERO pain immediately after surgery and have never taken any pain killers since my surgery. Within 5 weeks I was back on the Dojo floor training (very carefully though, but being able to work at my cardio. Also, as the incision had healed completely, I started swimming again after 6 weeks and am now focused on rebuilding my muscle tone and Cardio. Thank you Dr B, Metaxia and staff, there are no adequate words

How can i put into words how amazing Dr. Cayen is!! I was in shock when i learned i had to have both my hips replaced. Being a 48 year old single mother it was devastating not to be able to take care of myself fully not able to walk or even pick up up a pen off the floor without being in agony!! The worst was not able to do the things i wanted to with my son because i was in so much pain!!! I was then referred to see Dr. Barry Cayen. My experience with him was extremely rewarding. His warm smile made me feel so at ease with him and his twinkling blue eyes made me feel undeniably trustworthy of him. Not only is he a brilliant man but i am now recovered after 10 months and feeling like a new woman because of him. In my heart i truly believe he cares for his patients and i know and i can see that his true passion in life is to be a surgeon . Thank you Dr. Cayen for making me feel whole again. I will see you in six months looking like a billion :-) Kathleen Tashos
