I first came to Dene’s studio in the summer of 2018. Knowing how much I love to draw and paint, my brother and sister-in-law bought me a gift certificate for painting lessons with Dene for my birthday. I had no idea what to expect when I first walked through the studio doors...I stepped inside and was immediately surrounded by the most beautiful awe-inspiring works of art, and I felt like I was home. I couldn’t wait to begin painting with Dene, and I remember my first lesson like it was yesterday. Dene was so patient and kind to me, guiding me through the various painting techniques and taking special care to ensure that I had a thorough understanding of the building blocks that make up a great painting. I felt at ease and was delighted to be surrounded by a number of talented artists in a relaxing, friendly and peaceful atmosphere. I have nothing but the utmost respect for all that Dene has accomplished throughout his illustrious career and I look forward to developing my artistic ability with him by my side, for many more years to come. Thank you Dené for all the hours you have spent helping me grow into the artist I am today, and for continuing to be my most treasured friend and revered mentor.
