Good local store. I try and buy as much as I can from local businesses instead of corporations. The pricing is for for the most part on par (sometimes all little cheaper.... sometimes more). Speaking with the owner was a good experience. My initial thought was to go in acting like I knew nothing and see how that went, but I ended up acting like I knew a bit (just seemed to work better). The owner was very knowledgeable on blade steels and so on. I think a knife is a (at least for me) more personal thing so that definitely seemed to help factor in on his decision process and not necessarily my own, but they can lead you in the right direction. The only thing I found that he left out is the on the blade steel I was looking at is prone to chipping and for the application I was looking at maybe wasn't my best option (even premium and ultra premium blade steels come with sacrifices), but I am sure it's because I am picky or maybe some misunderstanding/left out details on my part, but if you paying 300 for a knife than you should be. With all that said still one of the most knowledgeable people and for most they have more information off the top of their head than any average knife section you'll find in most stores. I like there selection and was one of the main reasons why I went there (they have knives your not going to find at other stores). I have purchased one knife off them about two years ago and will be back to buy another.
This store is permanently closed due to bankruptcy. Good riddance to such poor customer service. Russ is a horrible person and extremely aggressive. Please read other comments on his customer service. He should not work in customer service industry/retail at all
I used to shop here very often almost 7 years ago. I've bought a bunch of Benchmades, Kershaws, ZTs and Fallkniven here. Recently I've been checking out the store again when I'm in the area; I'm glad to see their prices are quite competitive. I think even if a knife is a few bucks more than online, it's worth seeing the product in person and supporting a local business. I ended up purchasing some knives after quite some time: A Benchmade 15080 and a ZT 0562! I can see how people may interpret their customer service as lacking, but I appreciate the fact they do not push you into buying anything. All you have to do is ask to see a product and they will help ya out. Lastly, I found out they offer a "buy back" program where they will take knives and give you store credit. Of course what they take is up to their discretion and are generally looking for high end cutlery in good condition. Also, the store credit must be used the same day they take the knives. The price you get for them is lower than what you could sell them for, but it saves you the headache of selling them yourself. I traded a few knives for credit and paid much less for the benchmade!
Kutters Knives is one of the finest establishments that I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Russ the owner, his wife Eva, and his son are incredibly knowledgeable and are always a pleasure to deal with. Their selection is massive and is always of top notch quality. Russ will not carry anything that he doesn't believe in and stand behind. Their suggestions are always worth their weight in gold, I've never been disappointed in any knife that I have bought there, especially those that I have bought based on their recommendations. I always receive incredible service at Kutters and am happy to recommend them to anyone and everyone. If you want great service, great people, and great knives, shop at Kutters.
Got myself a pretty sweet katana at Kutters. Now I use it to battle my enemies when I drop my spear. Hopefully I won't bring shame on my family. But if I do need a blade for seppuku, I know where I will go to buy it. Kutters.
Everything I buy, I buy to use hard and I'm still using blades purchased 10 years ago, all purchased from Kutters with the help of the amazing family that runs the business.
Outstanding service, unbeatable prices on the best gear you'll ever need to buy for any blade related needs. Go in and talk to Russ, I promise it'll be worth your time to pay this store a visit. I've been a customer for almost 10 years and I wouldn't even dream of going anywhere else for knives!!
