This summer I had an amazing experience at Gerick Cycle in Nelson. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The amount of bicycles they stock is amazing and I found a mountain bike in my price range and they set it up for my size too. I think that Gericks is the best Bike shop in Nelson!
I had my bike serviced here a few weeks ago. It needed a lot of love and I felt that Gericks did an amazing job. Today I went back in to pick up a few items. Gloves, inner tube, lube. Matt helped me out and he was so enthusiastic and passionate about bikes. Exactly what you are looking for in a bike shop.
This shop takes service seriously. If you're looking for quality product knowledge and excellent bike mechanics, without the attitude, go here. They are organized, professional, helpful, and will take care of you.
This review is a little overdue. However I wanted to leave one anyway. In June 2017 Ryan went above and beyond to ensure I purchased a bike that was the correct size. The bike I purchased is somewhat of a niche bike, a Surly ECR, and they did not have one in stock. Ryan went the extra mile to ask NRG, the Surly distributor for Canada, if he could borrow the bike I wanted from one of the NRG staff. He had it delivered to Gericks for me to test ride. I ended up going with a medium frame vs a small frame and am completely happy I did after an 800km bikepacking trip through the Kootenays and Okanagan. I never once was uncomfortable on my bike. Ryan did all this while helping other customers and even helped ensure the proper fit before my long adventure. I am sure I will have many adventure to in the future with my Surly ECR. The Blackburn Outpost bags were also purchased at Gerick's. Thanks Ryan.
