I placed a big order from Harbour Chandler for their Black Friday sale. My order arrived at my door within 2 days, much faster than I was expecting. I also visited their store in person for the first time this past weekend. The staff was very helpful in helping me find the items I was shopping for and then answered a bunch of my questions about fishing for Lingcod. (I am not new to fishing, but new to targeting Ling, and plan to this season). I can't recall the guys name who helped me but he explained a number of things to me and gave me some fantastic advice.. I can't recommend this store enough, although be careful. If you enjoy fishing or boating, you might end up having to explain a large bill to your spouse, it is easy to get carried away in this \candy store\. If it were not for COVID and having to wear a mask the whole time I could spend hours and hours in that store!

I moved back to the island fairly recently and for some reason I was concerned about whether there would be good fishing stores here. I guess a good fishing tackle store is important to me, because as long as there are tons of lures I've never tried, and tons of tackle I don't own yet, it's easier for me to believe that the reason I came home with no fish for the thirtieth time this year is because I don't have the right gear. Consequently, Harbour Chandler is awesome. They have all kinds of gear - it's one of the best saltwater stores I've ever seen and I find the prices really competitive. You can buy endless amounts of new hardware and still be searching for that magic combo to slay lings or springs. There is one major downside, though: if you talk to the staff in the fishing department, they give you such clear advice that you completely run out of excuses for failure. These guys got me going with downriggers, they pointed me at fish, they showed me charts and picked out tackle. I literally have no way to justify a fishing trip that doesn't produce meat anymore. Despite this obvious flaw, I still look forward to going there. I try not to go as much these days because occupancy is limited thanks to Covid19, and I just end up in a trance while people wait frustrated outside. It's a meditative place for a certain type of guy. Still, I can usually find an excuse to go. I was on the water for work five days a week last year, and their selection of ground tackle, ropes and lines, and PFDs kept me going more often than not. Bottom line: it's my favourite store even though they robbed me of all my best fishing excuses.
