Great place to take pictures from
July 22/2020. I don’t live on Gabriola Island. Although I like coming over as a walk on. From Monday to Thursday seniors are free. A camera/and binoculars are a must. I’ve never seen whales although I’ve been told from Orlebar is a great spot. Great place to bike around. Be ready for the hills Not much traffic. Stay to the right at all times except for a left turn. One of the best spots to check out is the short drive out to Orlebar Pt. The Berry Pt Rd. has some fantastic views of the Salish sea. If you're lucky go at low tide to explore the shoreline. On the way check out Malaspina Galleries. The galleries have been a noted feature on the island for generations. Mother nature’s sculptures. The effects of saltwater and the winds on sandstone and limestone carve out huge cavernous bowls with cliffs. Play safe here. On a clear day, you can see the north shore of Vancouver city. Entrance Island light House makes for great pictures. If you have time take in Drumberg Park at the south end of the Island. A short walk for some really nice views. Ride safe and have fun.
The lady directing traffic is a absolute witch, the most unhappy person I have seen. A cars battery had died and we offered to give them a boost, when we pulled up beside the car that needed a boost she started yelling at us and wanting us to pull in front of the car to boost it, we said that our cables are long enough that we did not have to but she continued to yell and scream. It surprises me that people like that are able to keep there jobs....
Lovely staff, lovely customers, lovely destination.
