I've known Sensei Kam Arefi since spring of 2014, he has been our daughter's Sensei since then. I have found him to be engaging, compassionate and kind to his students. He teaches good values such as respect, patience, confidence and humility. Our daughter is fortunate to have him as a teacher, an ally and a coach. In 2019, our daughter competed in the provincial tournaments earning 1st place in youth (12-13 yrs old), -47kg. This propelled her to compete at the National level where she placed 3rd and been selected to be a national team roster where she represented Canada in PanAmerican championship in Ecuador. Since then, Sensei Kam has been training/coaching and supporting our daughter in this journey and we as parents are so lucky to have him in our corner!!!

Our son just started here just the other week. He initially started karate in the community program and his teacher at the program pointed us to Mushin-Kai in Waterloo, as our son was enjoying karate. The teachers are very professional and our son is enjoying his new karate class! (Also on a side note: they are very clean and mindful of the ongoing COVID situation. All students are able to effectively learn but still be socially distant.)

Our 4 year old son started karate here after a few community karate programs. We can’t say enough on how fantastic and professional the instructors are. It is a very warm and friendly environment, paired with discipline and professionalism. The class size and teacher to student ratio is excellent and well planned. Our son has learned a lot and has retained much of it in such a short amount of time. Highly recommended

If you need your child to learn a very good discipline to themselves, I highly recommend this karate class, Sensei Kam is a real deal. I had my son started at the age of 6 and my daughter, its been 4 years now since they had their first training. Since then my kid really build their confidence to their selves and them being tough too(they are not like a crying baby at all) And the hest part of it nobody or no one can bully them as they know how to defend themselves. Great job Sensei KAm, and the rest of his crew

Our 4 year old started karate under Sensei Arefi in the Forest Heights Community Centre and not only did he love it - we loved it. Before starting karate, he would often go wild, but Sensei Arefi, who is great with children, taught him that discipline while learning and fun while doing karate aren't mutual exclusive. Over the summer, when the community centre programs are on break, our son went to the dojo and it has a great learning atmosphere. The distance from home makes the community centre more attractive for the rest of the year, but our son will surely attend the summer program in the dojo again - he loves doing karate and often asks me to train with him, so it might just be time that I sign up for classes, too :-) Great teacher, great place to learn, great atmosphere - 5 stars.
