Even during the pandemic, the ladies here have been so amazing with helping women in the community. I have called for assistance with clothes, counselling and financial consultation, which really helped me out when I was in a bad spot. Normally they offer womens support groups to the public. I feel better being new to Rocky, knowing that I have them to lean on.

We went to donate items the other day as we thought they would be very useful items to have. We had a crock pot, Tupperware, baby bottles, toddler coats, pots, vacuum, and various bags and storage items. My wife went in to ask them where they wanted it and she received a attitude like it was a huge inconvenience for this lady to come out to get our donations. The lady comes out and begins belittling us saying most of it was probably going to be coming in the front door and out the back implying they would throw it out. She even went as far as saying "does the vacuum even work?". This woman seemed to be sitting on her high horse and didn't have the needs of woman using the shelter in mind. She eventually told us to take it to a local thrift shop. Needless to say we didn't leave very happy. I went back a short time later to retrieve a bag of coats this goddess of donations took as i was so fuming mad about it i didnt want them to get my daughters old winter jackets to throw out if they felt like it. This time I ran across a different woman who was much more pleasant to deal with and I explained how poorly we were treated a short time before. She apologized and asked to come look at the items we had initially tried to drop off. She ended up taking most of the items except for some larger items we had. She seemed genuine in her apologies and for asking for some of the items. She told me she would speak to the battle axe I had talked with before. I personally will not donate any more items or money to this shelter. There is a way you can say no thank you we aren't currently taking donations vs. Calling everything garbage and take it to the thrift shop. I think some of the people there have over stayed there employment. It makes me wonder how they treat woman who need their services.
