When we first came in our initial observations were how dark and dingy the place was. After a while it didn’t take us long to realize why... it must be so customers can’t see the food that they’re eating because serving a hockey puck as a burger is simply inexcusable. Although we could barely see the food we were eating, unfortunately we could taste it... a horrible taste that I hope I never have to experience again. I can tell you that I won’t be experiencing it from MJ Byrne’s again because I will never be going back - and I don’t suggest you do either. There are much better places in the village that have better food and service for the same price.
The best Irish pub I’ve ever been too. The Guinness on tap is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The food is awesome pub style food. Love the decor very authentic. I even had the opportunity to meet the owners who where from Ireland and they even took the time out of their day to explain where my family came from from Ireland. Overall great experience. Definitely will return next time at the Blue Mountain
Jack was a great host to our group and the food was lovely too! Being away from Ireland, the vibe of the pub took us back home! Would definitely recommend! x
We came to MJ Byrne’s for a quick lunch during our stay in Blue Mountain. The staff was friendly and the service was OK but, the food was so-so. We sat outside and they brought it in take out containers which, we didn’t mind at all, really, it just wasn’t memorable. At least, the price was decent and the beers were fresh.
Absolutely terrible experience, was told to sit on the patio in the cold weather which was fine because we agreed. There were many spots available inside, especially one opening with four seats, each time told a different story as to why we were not able to sit inside. First they claimed somebody was eating and was just not at the table, after another 25 minutes of waiting, they claimed The person that was sitting there with smoking outside, but we were outside and there was nobody smoking. 25 minutes later we asked again and were told there was somebody in the bathroom that was sitting there. We then asked again a half hour later, and we watched somebody that was already inside, sitting at the bar, slide across and sit at the booth. This gentleman was there the entire time, after confronting the manager and explaining what happened he said yeah who cares it’s a guy sitting there too bad
Great place for Irish and everyone else, brilliant and friendly staff, quick service and high quality food. Actually felt like home. 100% Will be back, would love to work here
I had lunch in the pub today and felt compelled to write a review. I had the steak and mushroom pie which was to die for. Pastry super light and flaky and the steak and mushrooms were tender and full of flavour. My dining companion went with the cabbage and bacon. It’s actually ham and not bacon and he reported that it was excellent. It looked it. There was a lot of renovation work going on and I have to say that the craftsmanship was top drawer. I was especially impressed with what they’ve done to the ceiling and the bar looks like it’s been totally redone. I’ve visited a lot of Irish pubs in Ireland (too many) and can say with the utmost confidence that MJs is the real thing. Definitely worth a visit and a pint of Guinness.
