I am extremely pleased with the service Fund Services Edge Inc provided me, they are very candidate oriented. I am a CFA charter holder and having worked in the asset administration industry for over a decade in progressive roles, including management roles; I was looking for a different direction from hedge funds. I was impressed with the wide scope of Fund Services Edges’ professional connections within the industry and in-depth knowledge of relevant skills in both the hedge fund and private equity space. Given my past experience, I was unsure about which areas to focus on, having worked for the same employer for over a decade, I was not finding much success in highlighting the breadth of relevance and depth of scope I was able to bring to a new role, especially ones that I didn’t have extensive experience with. Fund Services Edge equipped me with what I was missing, without their support and specialized skill set, I don’t believe I would be able to secure a position on the private equity side as fast as I did. They set up an interview within 1 week of us speaking. I was able to acquire a position as an associate in a private equity team immediately. After graduating with a finance degree from a top school I was looking for relevant and interesting positions that matched my background. I was getting calls and interviews, but mostly for roles and positions that wouldn’t give me the career path that I was looking for. I was finding it particularly challenging to enter the asset management industry as almost all analyst level positions required relevant Canadian experience. Fund Services Edge provided me with the wow factor that I was lacking, without them I would’ve probably ended up on a career path that wouldn’t let me be where I am today. Currently I work as a consultant in the asset management space for one of the largest & best known consulting firms in the world. I would not be able to do this without Fund Services Edge, certainly not in the time frame that I have been able to. Fund Services Edge opened the doorway for me and set me on the right path. Working with them I gained the much needed experience and confidence through industry expertise, found invaluable mentorship, built lifelong friendships and last but not least landed an analyst level position in the hedge fund space. I decided to stay in Toronto after completing my Master’s degree in finance, and over the next couple of months interviewed with several large institutions and firms, but sadly none of them resulted in an offer. After some more time I decided to lower the bar and pursue roles that weren’t ideally suited to my background. I was just eager to get started and continued to network with industry professionals, friends and alumni, until one of them referred me to Fund Services Edge. Joining FSE was the best decision! And although my expectations were more basic, they ultimately delivered for me a position that was one of my top choices! Within a few weeks of working with Fund Services Edge, I started interviewing for risk related positions, and shortly thereafter I accepted a valuations analyst role with a large institution. After graduating with a high GPA and a degree from a top undergraduate program, I applied to countless positions but was mostly getting calls for basic sales and temporary jobs which wouldn’t give me the career trajectory and designation relevant experience that I was looking for. I was able to get two interviews for more meaningful positions but failed to get an offer from either one.
