We wouldn’t recommend Mermaid Pools in Ottawa at all. Right from the start we were knowingly misled by Brian our salesperson on delivery dates. He continued to give us the run around when we asked for delivery dates over the months. It seemed like we were dealing with a used car salesman - but not in a good way. I was finally able to get accurate & an honest answer from Lynn in the service department. She was really good to deal with, and get a true delivery date. We are not ones to write negative reviews, however Brian’s behaviour was egregious, unprofessional and created such a negative buying experience, we felt that needed to be brought to light. We have had other delays related to COViD from other vendors. They kept us informed, told us what the delays were & returned our emails. This was not the experienced we had here. This was a 20k hot tub, not something from Home Depot. This was way beyond a product being delayed, this was a salesperson knowingly misleading us, saying he got an email, confirming it’s on a truck etc. Even if it did not “show” up - why wouldn’t he inform us? This happened 3-4 times - same pattern, it’s on its way, have email confirmation - no issues, will be here next week, then radio silence. Even more frustrating was when we patiently followed up after no communication, he would get upset with us & tell us he couldn’t remember what he had told us. It was such a frustrating experience. We have no issues with delays, we do with dishonesty.

I decided to change my in-ground pool liner after 19 years. I reached out to Myrtle Myers at Mermaid Pools for assistance. Myrtle was very professional and provided guidance in choosing the best liner as per our needs. After placing the order, Myrtle followed up on delivery and scheduled the installation with Denis. What a team! Denis and team, fantastic job! We love the liner and are extremely impressed with the service from Mermaid Pools (Myrtle and Denis)! Thanks again, stay safe!
I purchased a Bullfrog R7L Spa which is over 17,000. It’s a high quality spa for which you would expect high quality service associated with such a brand. This couldn’t be further from the experience. The tub arrived damaged on two exterior panels. One has been replaced and after way too many texts and emails with 3 different departments at Mermaid I should receive the other panel is 2 months time. I was then told to fill the tub up immediately after installed. Started filling it up and the water is pouring out of the bottom because the MAIN line was not connected at all. It’s a massive pvc pipe with a large screw on connector. I was told it was likely just disconnected during shipping which is physically impossible given that it was completely detached. So have a pool of water in the bottom of the tub and underneath and it’s -10. If Bullfrog spas were available anywhere else I would highly recommend going elsewhere it was a very poor customer experience and stressful given the price tag and new spa owner. I felt helpless, thank god for YouTube.
Our 15 year old hot tub feel victim to a long-power outage which caused significant damage to some pipes and a motor. The response from the service personnel was amazing, given that our hot tub was not in the city but at our country home. I can't say enough good things about the staff (Shawn & John) who helped get us up and running again. This is a first class maintenance service. Thanks!
