The owner and staff are very friendly and accomodating. It has a very funky and relaxed vibe. They have a pub with live music on the weekends. A great place to relax without breaking the bank.

Beds hard solid gave me back issues dirty rooms taps not working dirty washrooms and show tap freezing cold no hot or proper nob etc etc.
Nevermind expensive motels, this place is amazing! Full kitchen, common area with massive half moon couch and big screen tv, rooms are small but comfortable beds and excellent service from the owner and his staff. Highly recommended for the lone traveler or couples.
Positives: We were stranded at midnight on Friday night and they took us in and gave my friends and I an entire dorm room to ourselves. The staff were amazing! Extremely comfortable beds and the hostel was well equipped! Great kitchen and living room! We decided to stay a second night because it was so great. At 7am I managed to lock myself out of my room and had to wake up a member of staff. He was so nice about the situation (I still feel bad, sorry!), really fantastic staff! Negatives: There's almost always no one at the check-in desk so we couldn't request the second night stay whilst there, despite going at the designated open hours. Maybe the buzzer doesn't work? Not a huge problem, but somewhat inconvenient. On Saturday night, the bar continued on past 1am and it was very loud making it impossible to get to sleep. The shower upstairs isn't very powerful and the temperature is pretty much luke warm (the downstairs one however is amazing!). Although it wasn't perfect, we were so impressed by the staff and felt very much at home there. For that reason, we want to give 5 stars. If we return to Algonquin, we'll definitely think about staying here again!
Very loud and noisy at night. It says to keep quite after 11 pm. It is 12:30 am now and the party is still going on. Very loud music. Can’t sleep at all. No one in the office so don’t know where to complain. Bad experience. Will never come back.
So close to my dads. Owner is friendly and hospitable. Staff aswell clean homey feel. Would stay again!
