My fiancé and my brother in law went to view a rental unit. The unit was lovely and very clean, but it was the agent Melissa that we had an issue with. Upon letting the agent know we were interested in the rental and after the viewing, she replied that they already had applicants in process but would let us know if they didn't work out. This would have been nice to know before we drove all the way to the property, perhaps during email communication prior, this was very inconsiderate of our time. The next night we noticed the ad was reposted so we sent the agent an email saying we were really interested in the unit and we would even be happy to sign a 2 year lease, I mean a professional working couple in their 30s and our brother, I feel like we're ideal candidates, we own a company, my fiancé has 2 jobs... Our brother works for me and my company... The next day we received an email back explaining that the landlords were only interested in a family renting the residence and that if something more \fitting\ came up in their profile we would be contacted. I don't understand how much less of a family we can be? The level of discrimination directed towards us was completely unacceptable and disheartening. I would highly recommend using any other rental agency in the city. I don't know how a company can operate with such prejudices. Completely unethical. You literally rejected us for an application because we didn't meet your ideal \family requirements\. I would love a response from Maude and MacKay and perhaps Melissa to discuss what they think family means.
