We’re thrilled to find Columbian cuisine in uptown Markham. The owners Norma and Alexander, are very friendly, and take great pride in their restaurant. We felt transported to South America, with the cute décor and warm hospitality. We sat outside and Norma brought us Columbian coffee and traditional beef empanadas. My hubby is a coffee lover, so he was a happy camper! The cheese buñuelos were soft and fluffy; I wish we had ordered more! We shared the Bandeja Paisa, which is rice, plantains, sausage, crispy pork belly, beans, avocado, steak, arepa, and a fried egg. The chicharron was a bit chewy, and we prefer our steak on the medium rare/medium side. The Toston with shredded chicken was a nice change from our usual order of pork or beef. The flavors are very authentic, and overall, we had a lovely lunch date.

My twin sis and I love eating here. I have food sensitivities and they are always able to accommodate me. Today when we visited the owner taught us how to salsa! The service and food is impeccable!!
Delicious authentic Columbian food made with love. The beef and chicken Tostons have a wonderful blend of flavours that transports you to another land!! The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. The toston base is made from a smashed plantain fried to the perfect crispiness (not over cooked or greasy so you can taste the sweetness of the plantain with each crunchy bite!) I do love a good pastry so I had to try the pan debono: soft round buns with a slight sweet that have a firm surface and warm pillowy interior. The unique texture comes from casava flour, so these buns are gluten free! They are subtly wonderful and best enjoyed with a cup of the fine Columbian coffee they serve. I was too full to try the empanadas with salsa, so something to look forward to. The meals were well packaged and easy to eat in our car after a hike in the Rouge Park, but it will be much nicer to dine in the colouful interior and enjoy more of Christina's hospitality once COVID restrictions are over. Can't wait to return to try the Arepas!!
Amazing food! Honestly a top restaurant in Ontario. I've been to many Colombian and Latin restaurants around the province, and The Toston is definitely the best one in service, amazing quality food, geneours quantity and great prices! They're definitely generous on portions of food. This is not a fast food restaurant, this is a top class homestyle restaurant with a real Chef! . I ordered the Toston Rompecolchon. It has tilapia fish with coconut sauce, shrimps and crab meat, and top slices of avocado. The flavour is simply amazing!

I called the day before and requested the sea food soup/Sea food Casserole (Cazuela de Mariscos), it was astonishing delicious, so tasty and such generous portions! Fully recommended! I took the picture, I had eaten some of it already...
