My fiance purchased my very expensive engagement ring from the manager Elizabeth here at Mappins in Market Mall. He put all my info on the account as it was my ring, but he had told Elizabeth how important it was not to come in contact with me, obviously, because he hadn't asked me to marry him yet. 2 weeks later my phone rang, but my fiance had answered it as I was busy, and guess who!? Elizabeth from Mappins calling us trying to get us to spend more money. He lost his mind at her and told them to remove my number from the account until he had gone in and told them it was ok to do so, I was unaware of this phone call. 3 weeks later, Elizabeth called back, RUINED the surprise and our engagement. My fiance went to Mappins to see Elizabeth to confront her about what she had done. After he told her the story of how she managed to ruin everything, she responded "soooo, what am I supposed to do about that?". Can you imagine if this happened to you and this was the response you got!? They refused to make it right, they refused to return it. Luckily we went to peoples in Market Mall, told them our story. They refunded us 500, removed all our info from mappins (they're affiliated) moved all our info to peoples, and generally cared about us and were shocked when we told them what Elizabeth at Mappins had done. Don't shop at Mappins, the staff doesn't care about you, they only care about the sale. Even after you drop 5 grand there, they call you and hound you to spend more money. And as for Elizabeth, she ruined our engagement, had zero sympathy for what she did, and would do nothing to make it right, how she has a job is beyond us. Thank you Peoples for making it right!
