This place is extra ordinary. In addition to basic safety, security, and proximity to the hospital... the staff are incredibly dedicated. Yeah, everyone is expected to help keep the place clean, but the dishwasher is so small that it does not take more than a minute to empty. From management down to the janitor, the objective is to collaborate with families. For the price, you get value that is simply unheard of - there should be no reason to complain.

I have to say, that as much as this place fills a fantastic need, it also falls a little short in some areas. The facility is great, staff is wonderful and in general people follow the rules. However, the areas it falls short is in bilingual labeling and notices throughout.. It seems the only papers that are bilingual are rules and donation flyers. Everything else is only French. We live in a bilingual country, and Montreal is extremely multicultural, nevermind that Ronald McDonald House takes people of many nationalities. As a parent with a child in hospital I can say it is extremely frustrating at the end of a long day at the hospital to come "home" to not understand anything. Kitchen labels, family rooms, everything is all unreadable for anyone not from here. It certainly, for myself, makes me feel unwelcome. It's quite disheartening to be honest. I know they take great strides to make families comfortable, which surprises me that something so simple is left unaddressed. You do good things, but a small change would make a huge difference.

I volunteered here, fantastic cause. I strongly recommend volunteering here to help families of sick children. The staff here works hard to make sure it's affordable for people who have to come from out of town.

Clean and quiet place. Great cause BUT families here are already going through a difficult time and then you get a lot of stress from the staff. I just wanted to make toast for my hungry child. The staff lady with red short hair walks around me 100 times, no greeting no short "hi" she tells me to clean everything (which was not mine btw, but ok) (I know its part of the thing when you stay but my daughter was waiting and i was kinda busy at the moment) she kept talking to me in french telling me what to do. I told her i dont understand. Anyways my husband put away all the dishes. 5 minutes later she comes again just to check if we put the dishes away. What i thought would be a stressfree morning she made sure it was not. And not to forget, when i arrived i waited 30 minutes in front of the door with my luggage and daughter 3 days out of surgery. 30 minutes can be very long! Anyways... not again! It was a mistake to come here...

Been working there for several years and from experience, i can tell you it truly helps families. It's one stress less. And allows people to relax before appointments or hospitalizations. There are 50 rooms and it is made for families who come from 55 km and more. There is no limit time to stay. As long as your child has to do with a childrens hospital in montreal, the house is there to support you.
