Well marked trails. Some beautiful conifer forests with big growth timbers and some areas that are only deciduous and less interesting. Parking at the Silver Valley Road entrance.

There for my 4 & 7 yr olds forest schools. Soon cool. Best learning environment ever!

Amazing place for a quick hike or day trip. I love the Educational billboards along the pathways and the trails are well marked and well kept. I would bring bear spray as you are quite high up the mountain in their home. Parking is accessible through the first gate but could fill up quickly on a busy day as there is only room for about 10 cars. Lots of picnic tables around too. Currently due to COVID the forest closes at 4pm and the office and washrooms are not accessible.

The trails are well maintained with the exception of one section of the yellow trail. Bit of a drive to get to but it's always quiet.

This recreation area is for hikers (no dogs or bikes). Nice parking area and colour coded trails so you can choose a short hike or something farther. I like the blue trail which loses some elevation on the west side but climbs back up with a spur to the Lookout which is about 300 metres elevation and gives a nice view westward. Complete the loop by winding down on the east side and merging with the yellow trail as you near completion. Wear long pants in spring/summer since trail is narrow in some places and your shins will get torn up if you wear shorts. Blue route is just over 8kms.
