Only had one night here but it was paradise. The property has spectacular mountain views along with the warm lake. We stayed in the tipi which was magical, and there are other accommodations at the ranch in addition to this. Barbara provided our group with all the supplies promised, and some fascinating stories about this place. The value for money here is excellent.

My wife and I stayed in the yurt on the property and could not have been happier. The yurt is fully kitted out and far more comfortable than most hotel rooms. The property itself is amazing. Although there were a lot of wildfires in BC which obstructed the distant view, the tall grass field and forest surrounding was beautiful on its own. It was the ideal location to do as much or as little as you want to with lots of local hikes, bigger lakes nearby, shorter hikes and a pond on site, or just take in a good book in the peaceful surroundings. The hosts are fantastic! Barbara and Joe were both very kind and ensured we had and knew everything we needed. Had a great time talking to Joe about the local area and the farm itself. They also made sure that despite the smoke from the fires the solar powered yurt was always charged up by using the generator when we were not on site (so it didn't disturb us). We had a lovely four nights and would definitely recommend this to anyone. Curtis & Jess

Best ever holiday and our five nights at a cabin in Bear Valley was the best part of that holiday. The cabin was spacious, very comfortable with everything we needed. However the cabin is a secondary consideration to the spectacular location in which it sits. Beautiful countryside, total peace and tranquility and therefore perfect relaxation and opportunity to truly unwind. Plenty of wildlife spotted during our stay (hummingbird, gopher, chipmunks, muskrat and marmot to name just a few). The lake was beautiful and was amazing to swim in. Paddle boards and canoes are provided. Finally this is a family business and from meeting them it is apparent that they are passionate about the location and ensuring their guests have a great time. Very much achieved for us - thank you

Very much in nature (I had a chipmunk go into the tipi while I was sitting at the bench). The tipi is large and clean and the cots are very comfortable. They provide life jackets and a paddle board, kayak and a canoe for public use. It's soooooo peaceful and each accommodation is completely private from each other.

Hubby and I just returned from 11 (yes 11!) wonderful nights in paradise, which for us included a cabin, cows, birds, peace and privacy, and lots of time for book reading and rejuvenating. The spacious and spotless cabin included a stocked kitchen, new linens and towels, easy to light and maintain wood (provided) burning fireplace, and a large deck and table to enjoy the expansive view from morning noon and night.

We travelled from the Highlands in Scotland to stay at Bear Valley Highlands in BC for a week back in July and just fell in love with the place. The cabin was very comfortable with everything you could need. There was so much wildlife right on the door step and plenty of great places to explore nearby. We have never met such a nice bunch of people as in the Lumby area. Everywhere we went folks were friendly and helpful. But the most special thing about the place was Joe and Barbara and their collection of animals. Dusty the quarter horse was the highlight for our youngest daughter and you couldn't fail to like the adorable Sammy (the dog) who would regularly appear at the cabin just for the craic! Lilly, the guardian dog, was also a big softy, despite patrolling the farm all night for unwelcome critters. As for the goats, you really don't need a TV with that lot about. Joe and Barbara have an idyllic setup and have worked hard to get there. They are rightly proud but equally modest about what they have achieved at Bear Valley and so kind to share it so freely with others. Nothing was too much trouble and you were treated very much as friends rather than customers. We were all genuinely sad to leave, but hope to return again one day.
