I called and asked a bunch of questions about how they are running, and got awesome clear and helpful responses. Also a very kind and charming man on the other side of the line. :)

One of the reasons I chose to be a Western student.
I don't usually write reviews but what I witnessed today really grinded my nerves. There was a young man working on the squat rack beside me. He was clearly in the military and was wearing combat boots. I assumed he was doing some sort of fitness training for the military. No big deal. He was just getting warmed up and was minding his own business when a staff member rudely demanded he leave because he wasn't wearing running shoes. I watched her threaten to call the cops on him because he was squatting in combat boots. The kid looked confused and pretty upset but he left. I really don't understand what was so wrong about a guy in the military squatting in combat boots. The staffs' reaction to him was also less than professional. The whole incident (and the disrespect for our military) left a bad taste in my mouth.
This facility is absolutely wonderful. If you like doing cardio or lifting weights, they have all of the appropriate gym equipment you could need. This gym also has a mens, womens, and family changing room and olympic sized pool which you are able to use with your membership. The only negatives are that during the university school season the gym can get exceptionally busy during peak times and the memberships are quite pricey if you're not a student although they do provide a variety of membership rates.
Gymn area crowded. Weight area, locker room dirty. Lack of parking. Too many students for facility size. UWO has poor athletic facilities for size of university. Western should do better.
