Byron Woods Montessori is not only a beautiful property but the staff are friendly, professional and very caring with the children they teach. I cannot think of a better place for a child to learn and grow.

My son attended this school between 1989 and 90. He and a friend were abused by their teacher, Bethany Wood. She spanked them and locked them in dark closets and alone upstairs in the ap room\. I reported what he told me to the administration and CAS, who did an investigation. The parents and administration responded with denial and the investigation was closed. I believe the children who disclosed . Their stories were consistent. At the time my son disclosed, he started hating school and became oppositional. This was the result of trauma he experienced at the hands of that teacher. He was too anxious after that in any school situation and barely finished grade 9. I knew Ms Wood was unprofessional as when i made an appointment to talk with her about my son's progress and went for the meeting , she refused to sit down and talk. That was at the end of the first year. He disclosed the abuse the following year. I hold this school responsible for my son's being far too anxious in classrooms to get a meaningful education. He was a very physically sensitive child and she took advantage of her power by abusing him. I am sure the administration has changed and I hope Ms Wood stopped teaching. Her lifelong mark is on my son - her 3 and 4 year old victim.
