Bought my first woodworking tools the other day. The staff is amazing! I went in nervous, and came out confident on my purchase. I had 2 staff members help me, and we were able to throw in personal experiences, and they treated me like an equal. I ended up buying a No4 smooth plane with the upgraded blade and a set of 4 chisels. Chisel prices were fair, but the plane was expensive. I am a believer in \You get what you pay for\ so I'm ecstatic about my purchases. I was able to try out the plane before purchase and felt the quality difference between this and a Stanley plane I used in a woodworking class. I wish I wrote down the names of the 2 employees so I can write an email to corporate about them. They were both enthusiastic and you can tell they love what they do. I will be coming back to get my blades sharpened and buy more tools when I need them. Update: I was so pleased with the service, I had to call them back and get their names: George and Ryan. Thank you for all your help and patience Thank you!

Normally very content with any Lee Valley purchase. Not today. Question, if I order a hammer, are you going to substitute it for a chisel? Or anything else for that matter? And if so, why? You sent me an email telling me my order was ready for pick-up, how hard would it be to tell you decided to substitute? So now, I have to go across town to take back the seeds that they thought it would be OK to substitute. Nowhere on the website does it ask, can we substitute? Because then I would not have ordered. And yes, I \appreciate\ that you're there, and you're open, but you had one job....
