Prior to my moving the company, to Grant Thornton, we were with a small 1 man accounting firm. We were desperate to get better reporting and input into financial perspectives for our company. We have had nothing but amazing support, from all sides...from Accounting, SRED, Tax Planning, to even input into a possible expansion down into the US. We are also using GT to create an amicable exit means between the President and his minority shareholder father that is equitable to both sides. Something like this could never had been accomplished prior to the move to Grant Thornton. We have had nothing but reliable, professional input from day one, and I would recommend them to anyone that needs professional accounting services. From the associates up to all of the partners we have dealt with, there has been nothing more than professional, reliable, meaningful, and most of all impactful exchanges.

DO NOT use this accountant firm. The icing on the cake was receiving a bill for my year end - without actually receiving the work done (or a review MONTHS after I submitted it) and calling to book an appointment... but then being informed, from the receptionist, that my accountant retired! Multiple mistakes include, but are not limited to: filing my GST return in the wrong months, not returning phone calls or emails, and failing to inform me of paying corporate installments. My new accountant is not only cleaning up the mess, but has now informed me of interest accruing due to other missed items! Save your time, your energy, and your money. Go elsewhere.

I was a client of Malish & Clarke and received great service for years. Once they merged with Grant Thornton the level of service dropped right off and I had multiple people working on my accounts. This caused confusion and screw-ups resulting in multiple filings in the same year. Now I find out that Steve Malish (my only reason for sticking with Grant Thornton) has left the firm. I would have expected some notification that my main business & personal accountant that I've used for 10 years had left, but nothing. It's not even on their website. Go elsewhere, especially for your small business where communication and good advice is very important.

I was a client of Malish & Clarke for 20 years and was hesitant to follow them when they merged with GT. But my long time trust in Steve Malish was the reason I moved to GT. Since we were there we had numerous errors, lost or misplaced paperwork. over billing, better yet being chased down for small payments usually delayed in paying as the bill just looked way out of line. All during the time with GT we encountered subpar service except for the few old M&C employees that came with the merger. We were one of M&C largest customers before they merged and even then we did not receive the service we received for over 20 years with M&C. We were just about to leave to a different company when we found out that Steve Malish moved to Cloverdale and we were quick to follow !! We are celebrating our 25th year in business and much of our success is do too the professional care that Steve Malish and his team has had on our business.
