Awesome place to learn! Love the environment and teachers are amazing. I highly recommend attending the \Digital Music Production\ course if you or anyone you know are interesting in learning how to make and writing music.
Attending the Langara Digital Music Production program has provided me the tools that I need to pursue a career in music, and I recommend this program to anyone who is serious about developing a solid foundation as a musician. The quality of the hands-on, thorough curriculum blew me away. Plus, the small class sizes, charismatic teachers (their amazing senses of humour served to keep me engaged and interested) make the Langara DMP Program truly valuable. This program covers a wide spectrum of topics that are integral for those who are serious about music, and students graduate with industry-standard training, regardless of the path they choose. Students learn how to produce music on various DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations). Other fundamental topics include music theory (including film scoring), synthesis, mixing, mastering, music business (how to promote yourself, attract opportunities, and use social media to your advantage), plus how to set up studios for live recording. The value of this unique program far surpasses other audio schools, in my opinion. Is the 32 000 price tag to attend a similar school, with a bigger facility (and similar course load) worth it? Langara's tuition is unusually modest for the wealth and quality of knowledge that the course provides. Evidently, the DMP program has an impressive list of successful alumni who have thrived as artists. Thus, I feel like I have undoubtedly made the right decision in choosing Langara.
I learned SO much from this program. It was perfect because they teach you how to be a sufficient producer using your own equipment & lap top. Although you get some studio time, the real focus is on DIY production for your own music... a lot of other schools in the city will teach you in prestine/expensive studios with more focus on engineering- this program is for those looking to understand the art of producing your own music, with less focus (but still some) on tracking other artists etc. My favourite course was Ableton, it's a great DAW and I use it to this day. I was a vocalist first and took this program to become more lexically equipped to ask other producers for what I want to hear in my recordings/mixes/production etc by the end of the program I was fluent in all things production!
Amazing course! Everything about it was top notch! I learned so much! I Highly recommend!
