All of a 5-minute undertaking but a very cool experience. The late fall setting made it all the more appealing. We were on a motorcycle so that added to it as well. Definitely come from the south east facing northwest across the ferry if you're going to go because you get the best view . Stunning area for a motorcycle ride!
Absolutely fabulous little piece of history. If you are interested in finding all the little gems around Alberta, this is the perfect spot. The ferry is quiet and lively at night and a delight to travel across. It was slower than I expected, which gave us a great view of the water and sunset. The ferry is also free, so if you get the chance to go, you should!
We crossed in 2011 during a geocaching adventure and really loved it. We were surprised to find this treasure way out in what seemed like the middle of nowhere.

If your near by or your looking to cross the river for the orkney look out, you'll probably use this ferry. Don't go out of your way for it though. Its not anything to write home about.
