H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Reviews | Rating 3.7 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is located in Vancouver, Canada on 1100 Chestnut St. H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is rated 3.7 out of 5 in the category museum in Canada. Our Mission: To educate, inspire, and evoke a sense of wonder about the Universe, our planet and space exploration. Our Vision: To engage and provide the opportunity to experience and understand the relevant connections between science, culture and society which will facilitate critical dialogue in a way that respects our past, celebrates our present and embraces the future. About Us: More than a tourist attraction, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is a non-profit community resource that provides a unique learning experience for all. Visitors can learn about space and the night sky through Planetarium shows, live demonstrations, and an interactive exhibit gallery. The H.R. MacMillan Planetarium opened its doors on October 28, 1968, a gift from lumber magnate H.R. MacMillan to the citizens of Vancouver. With the advent of space exploration during the 1960s, H.R. MacMillan wanted to provide a resource for his day and future generations. When the facility opened, it consisted of the Planetarium Theatre. With the addition of an exhibit gallery and new theatre in 1997, the Space Centre evolved into the community resource it is known for today, providing learning opportunities for everyone.

We went for the family program (during COVID) it was not worthy. The guides were very knowledgeable but they didn't know how to talk to kids, there was not enthusiast at all. My kids are really into space and sadly we left the place very disappointed. Really don't waist your money at least not during the pandemic.

Ok, the other reviews are correct, the place is not very big. You can finish all the exhibits in 45 minutes at most. However, the price include one show at the planetary theatre which is totally worth it. There are also free live shows at the Groundstation Canada Theatre every hour which is also very entertaining and educational. There is no cafeteria so you'll have to bring your own food/snack. There are vending machines for drinks and snacks too but not enough for lunch. Overall me and the kids really like it here and we'll definitely come again.

I have fond memories of this place from when I was a kid and we came here on school trips, though back then, they had laser shows! My husband loves this place because one of the narrators has \the most relaxing voice\ he's heard and honestly, that is the main reason we go here at least once a year. I think one time, we were in the same elevator with the narrator because we saw him at the podium once we went in. Our son really likes this place, too, but I think for all the learning and hands-on stuff because I think he's a little too young to really understand the presentations. Have to say though, I love the mini-shows because the presenters have little to work with in terms of audience participation/enthusiasm, but they're still super into it! We have the Entertainment book and they have a coupon in there if you need discounts.

The planetarium is small, but you can see parts of a rocket, things of the space and specific expositions, like a Korean Vase exposition when I been here.. Also here have a cinema to watch about space or something like that. I loved this place.

One of my favourite bits of architecture in the city!
