At first, I was skeptical. I wasn’t sure that this boardwalk would be worth the 9 hour car drive from northern Canada, but WOW was I wrong. Each step is breathtaking, each creak was like warm milk being poured on a hot summer day. If you ever get the chance, do yourself a favour and visit this national treasure. It’s simply a disservice not to, you owe to yourself. EDIT: Just read Alex B's response and I must say that you are truly lucky to be so close to such a treasure at all times. Perhaps your proximity to this prestigious landmark has dulled your senses to it's beauty. Surely, you must understand that for those of us less fortunate to live so close, something like this is very special and is worth a 9 hour drive. Just a reminder to live life and enjoy things for what they're worth.
One cannot possibly drive 9 hours to see 200 meters worth of cedar planks put together over a swampy meadow and remain really enthusiastic about it. This boardwalk is minutes away from my doorstep. We walk across every evening for our daily routine. It is a recently constructed cedar over steel pylons structure and it smells cedar after a rain or late in the evening. Undeniably - the views are beautiful but one cannot visually escape the sight of houses besieging the ravine. Typical suburban landscape. However, the summer evenings hide something quite fascinating: the firestorms of lightning bugs. Pick a late evening after a hot, dry day and be mesmerized by the magic of these creatures. Don't drive 9 hours, it is not really worth it.
