Growing Chefs! aims to teach children about local agriculture through direct experience—getting their hands in the dirt, caring for growing plants, and harvesting and cooking their own vegetables. Our mission is to educate children, families, and the community about food literacy, healthy food, and healthy food systems. Our Classroom Gardening & Cooking Program gives students hands-on experience growing and cooking food. We do this by pairing chefs, growers, and community members with elementary schools—Grades 1-7. We connect the volunteers with schools in their own cities striving to deepen relationships within the local food community.
