Horrible!! I had won a gift certificate for Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar a few years ago. I found it recently while cleaning out a drawer. I called the Gilead Café, it being the present Jamie K. establishment and inquired about using my gift certificate. A very enthusiastic gentleman on the other end said absolutely I could use my certificate at the Café. My husband and I arrived last night to have dinner and presented our certificate to a very snooty waitress. Let the games begin: 1) we were told by a homely, unpleasant hostess that the gift certificate was invalid. 2) when we walked in the door the first person we saw was Jamie K. himself. No hello, no greeting what so ever!! Pretty bad considering he is the chef and owner of Gilead Café. In a nutshell: Time to hang up your apron Jamie Kennedy, your passion has obviously been lost.

For the prices Jamie Kennedy charges at Gilead, I expect a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, each of the two times I've been, the service is simply not worth paying for. The second time I went, at least the staff was surly like they were the first time. overall, I've been there twice in 2014, and that's enough for a lifetime. I'll spend my money elsewhere where the staff is happy yo see customers. One star for the service two stars for the food 1.5 average stars. I'll be generous and round it up to two.

It is what we would call in Europe a great neighborhood cafe, but it is largely overrated as a place to go for lunch/dinner out. 1) it is pricey 2) the service at the counter was really obnoxious and not friendly (it is self service) 3) we ordered 5 dishes to try it out. blackened cod was a complete disappointment (wanted to send it back). hamburger was good. the rest was nothing special to remember. Sorry, Torontonians, I disagree with you that this is the place to take your gourmet friends to. If you live in the neighborhood - yes, probably. But this is not good enough to show to any well travelled person.

Perfect spot for lunch or casual dinner. Chef Kennedy's fresh, seasonal approach showcases the many great tastes of Ontario. Wine list is VQA focused. JK's frites are my fav!

Still a reliable spot for Toronto localvores. I've only ever been for dinner which offers great sharable food plates and wine pairings. The menu includes a mix of seasona items as well as a host of regular year-round items like poutine with braised beef and aged cheddar, steak frites, beef short ribs, and galantine of organic chicken. Both the poutine and the chicken are noteworthy. The salads are colourful with a thoughtful combination of flavours and texture. The prices are generally about fair, however, the sourdough bread plate (served cold with butter and a sweet potato spread) at 5 is probably less memorable than what many comparable restaurants serve for free.

The food is really good, great mix of flavor and texture Nice selection of ontario wine and great pering The service was ok, we really didnt apreciate to ave the light crunk up in the middle of our cheese platters after spending 300 in the joint. We felt rush and kick out. If you call yourself a winebar, you should assume that your customer wanna stay a little bit late (I mean latter than 11pm) and enjoy their drink. A good experience whit a really bad end
