This place is going through a bit of an identity crisis. They didn't renovate too much and kept most of the sultry piano bar look, but yet they named it Funky Chicken and wants to be taken seriously. Hm. We went with a table of 12 so the wait times seemed bearable. The food isn't horrible and the service was decent, but boy, they sure need to get their (piano) act together else they might go to (funky) town.

I went to The Funky Chicken Kitchen for the first time recently and I can honestly say that this place is below average at best. I will preface this review, however, by saying that our waitress Brittany was really friendly and gave us great service the entire time. She was polite, helpful, and checked in often to see how we were doing. I read multiple reviews saying the service is slow and poor, but the restaurant was only about half full when we visited so that may have been why the service in general was quicker; we only waited about 20 minutes for a table of four. The food was just mediocre though, if even. We all ordered the southern fried chicken and I would say that the fried chicken I make at home is juicier and more flavourful. The breading was overly crisp and separated from the meat rather easily; I ended up eating the meat and breading separately because of this. The buttermilk and Louisiana hot sauce based brine that they use imparts some flavour into the meat but not much. My friend had his chicken discounted off of the bill because there was blood close to the bone and it seemed undercooked. The side of fries I ordered was also okay but I've had better from fast food restaurants. I would not recommend dining at The Funky Chicken Kitchen when there are other more affordable and preferable options available at the mall. There was nothing even remotely impressive about this place that would make me want to come back again, and this sentiment aligns with what many other reviewers have stated as well.

Awsonw venue for music great sound stage. Food tasty but tiny portions. My chicken with coleslaw and potatoes was a joke for 17 bucks. I guess WEM rent must be high. Plus we had to pay 5 admission on top of this. My chicken was all breading. I get more chicken at kfc than i got there today. If u go there don't eat u will be feeling hungry after eating there.

Had dinner here on a busy Saturday night. Our waitress was prompt and extremely polite. We ordered the chicken wings to start, our mains was a half chicken and a chicken sandwich. The chicken wings came out in a timely fashion and tasted amazing! 5 minutes after receiving our starter our mains came out, they were given to the table behind us by mistake and we corrected it with the table and that's all good. The half chicken was cooked well and the buns that came with the meal were delicious. My husband did not enjoy the chicken sandwich saying it was cold. All in all we will definitely return. Great food and amazing prices!

Not horrible, but hard to find anything nice to say. Food was just okay. Looks like someone put some heart into it. Waiter only seen us three times. Once for the order, then to bring the food and finally the bill. Watched him mill around slowly while our drinks were empty for ten minutes. Restaurant was less than a quarter full and he had two other tables. Maybe this place is good as a night club/lounge, but as a restaurant they need to improve that side of the experience. Get your manager or assistant manager watching the floor and checking on tables to see how things are going. Please change the mashed potatoes by the way. They are gross. You actually have smashed baby potatoes drizzled in clarified butter. Or just warn people what they are getting.

Really wonderful night out. Enjoyed ourselves by dancing on the chairs! The pianists are particularly incredible at their art. The ability to play any song requested is very talented! Great drinks and service.

We went on a blind date with two other couples. We were sat at one of the bigger tables and there was plenty of room. The food: smaller portions but for the price, it was really good. The pianists were spot on and it was a fun crowd as well. Our waitress was very attentive and service was as good as anywhere. Let's not forget the bucket drinks as well!! We sang aloud there was dancing on the stage. All in all a good experience and we will definitely be back!

Had an amazing time. Food was decent (though small portions) but the entertainment was amazing, I could barely notice the food we were having such a great time! Loved it! We went Thursday night which they said is family night. Had our 3 kids (4, 7, & 9) with us and they had a great time, they did a bunch of Disney songs that the kids requested and that us adults love too.
