Great skatepark in a great location!
The kids had a blast!
Duncan skatepark is an outdoor park made entirely out of concrete and metal. This park fortunately has porta-potties and even a full out washroom not that far away. Last time I was there it even had a pay-phone in the arena. This park has quarter pipes, banks, fun boxes, pyramids, rails, and a fast deep little bowl for big air. Duncan doesn't care about this park however and it's filled with trash.
Slippery paint, debris, exhaust fumes, and chlorine fumes from the pool. No garbage cans, they tie a garbage bag around a fence pole, so everything just ends up everywhere. Otherwise the park is just poorly designed. Less than half of it is accessible to beginners, and only by 1 or 2 at a time before its quite packed. The surrounding fence also impedes much of the \beginners side's functionality. Contacted the governing body about a beginners area and maintenance and received no answer pertaining to maintenance whatsoever. Clearly money was set aside for the maintenance of this park in accordance with its total cost of ownership, and it isn't getting used for that. Im grown. I can drive to chemainus or mill bay (shouldn't have to, but whatever), but I feel bad that that's how much this town cares about the kids who use the park. Its got no shade, you have to cross a big parking lot to use the bathroom or access water, it's surrounded by nothing but fast food places, and a busy highway with cars spouting exhaust fumes all day.
