Decided to go today during rainfall. Tried last year same time but wasn't prepared for the floods so this time wore rain boots. Good thing to as at the deepest part on the Delta-South Surrey Regional Greenway Access Trail it was 12 inches deep! Parked at Planet Ice although there are numerous entry points. The river was already almost at access trail level. If you go during rain try to stay on the metal mesh stapled onto the raised wooden walkway as the older areas are very slippery. The new areas recently put in are not slippery. You can hear the hum from the highway but that doesn't take away from the beauty of this place. The ground is so red that the collected water looked red as well. Quite a number of trees had fallen and it was amazing to see the root structure up close. After exiting the wider loop we found the water level on the access trail had risen so we took the smaller loop in hopes of passing it. We did but as we exited the access trail the water level had risen about 1 inch. After I thought I could have simply gone in sandals but I don't know how cold the water was. So if you go during or after heavy rain, be prepared. While I was walking in the shaded areas and the rain I remembered a story from Alfred Hitchcock's Ghost Stories For Young People and I sang the song in the story in my head as I walked. Check it out on YouTube-Alfred Hitchcock The Open Window. It was appropriate as the running gag on the album is a dripping faucet that gets worse and worse. Have fun! Daniel .

Wonderful place to escape the city life thats still within the city. Able to get there using transit too. Not many garbage cans so please pick up after yourself while there. Be mindful to stay on the paths provided due to some areas being swamp like and you may sink. All around beautiful and quiet. Bring masks cuz there are still people using the area. And you can't always keep 6ft apart. Wonderful for kids too.

I recommend taking caution while on the boardwalk. There can be broken planks and larger than expected gaps. Easy peasy other than the boardwalk issues. I believe the path to Burns bog is next to the ice rink. For me the only redeeming feature is that it's in the middle of the city, but my 60 year old parents liked it.

Excellent winter walking. Beware of flooding though. Gum boots advised!
