The service is simple to use, rates are reasonable, cars are plentiful and easy to reach (in the Beechwood/Vanier area, at least), and the customer service is exceptional. I have always been able to reach a live body, no matter the hour, and the person on the other end is unfailingly courteous and helpful.

Great local car sharing company. Been using Vrtucar for a few months and it’s been a convenient way to have access to a car when needed but not being tied down to the ongoing car ownership costs. Using a service like this means no more car payments, insurance, gas and maintenance costs. Only pay a monthly membership fee and time and Kms. Recommend booking in advance if possible, especially for weekends and summer months when cars at most stations are in peak demand. Friendly customer service and there are some newer cars spread throughout the city. Vehicle choices depending on location range from Corolla, Yaris, Prius, RAV4, Volt and cargo vans.
Highly recommended!! Easy to get hold of customer service agent and always get my issues solved at first call! Will be a loyal customer I believe!
I've been using Vrtu for more than a year now and so far I've been impressed with the service. It's easy to use and the staff are very friendly. There is good car coverage in the downtown area. One thing I'd wish for is if cars don't have to be returned to the same spot to allow for 1 way trips. Overall very impressed.
UPDATE for 2021: I used to love this company, it was great at the beginning when it was smaller. It would feel like a real community and members would do nice things for members (who else remembers pre filing the onboard coupon for the next guy?) Now a days it is really difficult to get a car. IF, you get a car, there it is always without gas, what happened with the courtesy of filling up the tank if it was lower than half? In my last 5 reservation (3 different locations) the inside of the car is always dirty (see my picture), with pet's hair (supposedly no pets are allowed), used tissues (YES, even during covid times), sand, and my last reservation pet food. I have submitted feedback to HQ as I do not want this to become a widespread issue, but I have only got a generic copy paste of a "we care" email back. Sadly, I have to lower the rating from 5 stars to 2 stars, and I am seriously considering cancelling my membership. ---------------------------------- Registered yesterday, picked the key today! Awesome and fast service! AVOID ZIPCAR in Ottawa: I joined them 6 weeks ago and I still haven't received my card to access the cars, but they don't hesitate to charge me 2 monthly fees even without me being able to use their service!
Used Vrtucar for many years, sometimes daily and sometimes monthly. They treat their customers very well even at the end of my membership, providing records for car insurance purposes and promptly refunding my deposit and answering communication. Its rare to interact with a company with so much integrity these days.
Service has gone seriously downhill in last few years. Dirty cars, unsafely maintained, rude new branch manager, and lack of transparency in fees. Very disappointing.
Vrtucar takes a long time to repair the cars if you call them and if you report a problem they just write it down it's a good company they just need to maintain there cars
