Owning a company in the ski/tour industry for over 10 years I've met many of the top ski guides in the country. I can tell you right now that if there was an avalanche safety Olympics, most of the Cloud9 Guides would be part of Team Canada and bring home multiple gold medals for the country. The online Zoom class was well thought out and planned with a lot of great examples and media to help us visualize the concepts. The field day logistics were well planned out for COVID and was eye opening after being put under the tutelage of Todd, a legendary chief from the industry who was somehow pulled out of early retirement by the owner to teach us AST1. The field day location was PERFECT to see every single feature that they talked about in class. Everything was explained to the most miniscule detail to help us understand the risk and make decisions based on what data we could see in the snow and environment around us. I cannot recommend them more highly and for the price you cannot go wrong.

Absolutely fantastic experience. I took the outdoor rock rescue course from Mike, the owner of Cloud Nine guides. The course was very well taught, from a very experienced mountain guide. Mike was able to create a very comfortable, and professional learning environment, to learn some complex systems. He made them easy, and fluid. There was lots of real world applications and scenarios allowing me to leave the course confident that I could apply this knowledge in the field if I had to. Mike also provided great follow up for the course, giving recommendations on how to stay current and keep my skills sharp. I highly recommend choosing cloud nine.
Great experience with Cloud Nine Guides for our AST1 course at the weekend, really enjoyable and educative. Simon made good use of the enforced world of Zoom for a super informative classroom session, and then had a fabulous day out in the field with Robbie Chmelyk on Sunday. Robbie was really excellent, very engaging and friendly teaching style and evident how much knowledge he has to impart and he did a great job passing lots of that on to us. He helped create a nice group dynamic too. We’d certainly have no hesitation recommending Cloud Nine guides, great work guys.
Amazing! Cloud 9 took my brother and myself up the north face of Ha Ling and it was fantastic. They were very professional, definitely know their stuff, and provided all the needed gear. Safety was of the utmost importance to them, and took the time to instruct us accordingly. The pace was good, and had no problem stopping at belay stations for snacks and pictures. They also took a bunch of pictures and shared them at no cost. Such a fun climb. A huge shout out to Mike & Kevin for taking us up. You guys rock. If you are ever looking to do a guided climb, then look no further.
I have been on a number of private guided trips with Simon and Mike from Cloud Nine Guides , Both of these mountain guides is very experienced , professional and easy to get along with. They are always sensitive to the needs of their clients and make safety a high priority . I will highly recommend Cloud 9 Guides for any private mounatin guiding.
