A genuinely awesome life experience. Spending time at Seal River Heritage Lodge was fulfilling on so many levels.

Hi All I am writing to say that based on my entire groups’ experience for the trip November 12-18 2019 it would be n your best interests not to book iat either lodge November , as neither my group nor the group before ours saw a single polar bear at Nanuk or Seal River. CW claimed they could not have predicted this, but locals informed us that the early sea ice freeze that at caused the bears to leave resembled 2018, and heavy August rains were a predictor. In addition to lack of bears my group of four was not met in Churchill to be informed of pickup time for flight to lodge. So we made our own arrangements which we only canceled when we randomly ran into the CW bus and waylaid personnel for info. We were informed we were entitled to free breakfast at the Grand Winnipeg Hotel ( this counted as a day of our trip) but when we sat down to eat we were informed that the hotel had no knowledge of this. So we paid. We were subsequently reimbursed, but entailed a bunch of paperwork and waiting. Also reimbursed for the dog sledding that never happened. But no portion of the over 45000.00 for the four of us was refunded. We were offered a ten percent discount on future trips, (but then the website offere twenty percent to anyone who booked early.). We got a tundra buggy ride ( no bears, because we got back to Churchill from the lodge after the bears left) , and a truncated helicopter ride to see the bears on the ice - nice but could’ve done it cheaper and longer had we stayed in Churchill and booked on our own. All told, after 30 years of wildlife travel all over the world, this was one of the most expensive, and by far the most disappointing trip I and my group of four have ever taken. Again, all this ( besides messed up breakfast and communication) would likely have been different had we booked in October when the bears were there. So my advice, based on a couple of years of info, don’t book in November.

The most amazing vacation I have ever been on. This company has expert hospitality and the guides are funny, knowledgable and make you feel safe walking to find polar bears. Truly awe inspiring. The food.... incredible for homemade lodge food. I can't recommend highly enough

This is such an irresponsible thing to do to the bears. Who in their right mind thinks it is ok to drive up beside a bear to get pictures. I have lived in Nunavut for a while and know that polar bears are afraid of humans and do not want to stick around. The sighting of a polar bear in a community is really rare. If you continually bombard them with big trucks (tanks essentially) you are disturbing them and putting other people in harms way. Leave them alone. I find this terribly sad... these poor animals are endangered and struggling because of the ice melting due to pollution ... a lot of them are starving. I think they have enough stress. Troubling!!!

Birds, Belugas and Bears was one of the most amazing wildlife experiences our family has ever had. I can’t tell you the number of people we’ve told about it and amazed with our pictures. I can’t imagine why anyone would give them anything less than 5 stars. I’m guessing that was user error.

This was a great experience, stayed at Dymond Lake lodge for a few nights. Better than the buggy ride, as you get to see polar bears on the hikes each day
