This is a lovely small local museum run by folks passionate about their community. Admission is by donation and they sell a booklet that describes all the mural artwork located throughout the village. If you look carefully you could spend at least a few hours looking over the collection of local and historical artifacts. There are a few things for the kids to look at, but they might not have the patience to look at the treasures here.

Travel back in time, Now! The Chemainus Museum is beautiful. Newly renovated and full of wonderful displays and history. Probably one of the most fun and informative exhibits is the Barbie showcase. Here the museum has used Barbie to depict the women of town in a variety of fundraising activities. Fun fact. A hairdresser was brought in to do all of the Barbies hair according to the era.

I Thoroughly Enjoyed This Museum The materials were donated by locals and the displays were all assembled by local volunteers. You can feel the history here. There are displays more fully explaining many of the murals with additional materials as background. When I travel, I always like to go to the local museums, and I am rarely disappointed; each has its own personality. This is one of the best I have seen, thanks.

So much more inside than one would ever expect! I have lived in town for almost 4 years now and recently went back in after only popping in once when we first got here. Now that I have lived here for a bit I was blown away by the amount of artifacts and history on the area. The modest outward appearance of the front door doesn't foreshadow the suprises to be found inside. Try to stop in and visit, leave a donation if you can.
