Unfortunately we couldn’t go in real life but their takeout arrived hot and fresh. Delicious buns and dumplings. While it is pricey, I can’t say I’ve had dim sum that wasn’t pricey! All in all, the cost was in line with other similar restaurants and the taste was superb!

My girlfriend and I just arrived in Toronto and needed something to eat. The reviews were mixed between people loving it and people hating it. I really enjoyed my experience at Chalau. The food was good, the service was prompt and friendly, and the environment was relaxing. Someone mentioned it was a nice romantic lunch/dinner and I would agree with that statement. Overall, if you like good dim sum, this is the place to go.
2 People. Good variety, though everything was very average. Meat dishes were very coarse and other dishes were either too salty or too plain. Poor service although mandatory tip added to the bill stealthily. Definitely the sneakiest restaurant I have been to put the mandatory tip under Beverage and Alcoholic drinks on the bill. We were only told about the tip after asking and being confused about the additional line. BTW, if you pay by credit card, they still prompt you for tip on the machine. The lady who managed the cash at the front had no intention of telling me the tip was included. Sneaky huh? I personally prefer Crown Princess on Bay, which is probably 20% more expensive but well worth the price for its taste and service
This restaurant was amazing! Food was great, but service was even better. Being our first time in Toronto we couldn't have chosen a better place to have our first lunch. The hostess betty was more than kind, and made our Toronto experience exponentially more fun by providing us a great map of the Toronto area. Would definitely recommend first time visitors to head that way!
Not good. Portions were small for the price. Many of the fried items were soggy with oil not crisp as expected. There was a terrible smell from the sewer permeating through the front of the restaurant. Decor was dark and uninviting. Vegetables were limp and over priced. Service average not exceptional. I don't write many reviews but I had such a terrible experience I had to do something. When restaurant owners have pride in what they do it is reflected in almost every facet of their business, the operators of this restaurant must have forgotten what business they are running.
My gang and I would've never made it around without stopping by this amazing restaurant first. Food was great, service was great, and Betty was amazing! My gang and I would like to thank her for being kind enough to give us a map of Toronto and helping us with debit card issues. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your friends from Des Moines, Iowa, The fantastic four.
If you're looking for excellent dim sum with extended hours, this place is it. If you've got a craving for dim sum, it's open until 9:30 pm and the quality of the food is fantastic. The shrimp dumplings are exceptionally well done and I'm also impressed with the variety of vegetarian options they also have available as well.
This has been my go-to dim sum place lately. The food is great, it's fresh and flavourful. Service was definitely better than most dim sum place I've been. They were really attentive to our needs.
