Dropped my violin off for varnish touch up earlier this year. Took many emails and phone calls to have the violin turned around. In the end it took 3 months. The quoted price was also much lower than cost of servicing -- which is OK if this would have been communicated. Now, a few months later the varnish is compromised. Have had to return violin but no idea how long it will take. It's been a few days but I haven't heard from the shop.

I'm in my 20's and just starting the violin. I have a music background (I played piano for 10 years) but knew nothing about violins so it was a little intimidating walking into the shop. I told the staff what I was looking for (a rental) and using their expertise they chose the best violin for me. The young woman took the time to explain the rental process and violin care, and answered all of my questions. I walked out happy with my first violin, which based on some quick research is of much higher quality than typical student violin rentals from other places I looked at. The location is convenient and close to where we live. The shop is small, but has such an amazing selection of violins and other string instruments, accessories and books... I love the feeling of walking into an intimate workshop. I'll be back, and would love to check out the selection of violins once I am more experienced!

Ross and his family have always been very helpful with our daughters and what was needed for their instruments. They go out of their way to make sure violins are ready to go before events like Christmas or birthdays and the quality of the instruments they sell is excellent. Their daughter even helped us chose a bow when moving up in size! I'm so pleased that there is a quality establishment such as theirs in Calgary.
