Learning new skills as an adult can be challenging, especially if trying to do it together; as a couple! Dave Hill and Funsail do a great job of not only making the experience enjoyable but VERY informative. The knowledge and love for sailing Dave brings to the table really encourages an appreciation for the culture and lifestyle of sailing; not just the skills to sail proficiently. Highly recommended!

I took Dave's Basic sailing program before buying my own 37' boat and having Dave run a custom weekend program for me and my new crew. I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about buying a boat or looking for a great life experience with friends.
After a long break from sailing, I was looking to gain new skills that would give me confidence to skipper a 36' (or larger) sailboat in a wide variety of weather conditions, including overnight voyages. Dave Hill has tremendous experience and an approach to training that inspires confidence. His enthusiasm for sailing is contagious, and since my training with Dave, I have done a bareboat charter in the Adriatic, and a 1500 mile offshore sailing adventure.
As a novice sailor I found Dave to be an excellent instructor. He remained calm at all times even when we got into some pretty hairy weather. That allowed us to focus on the skills we had learned and resulted in an amazing experience.
I've had classes with Dave Hill at Funsail since I started to sail in Canada, I had my Basic and Intermediate Cruising certificates and he prepared me to have the ICC (International Certificate of Competency) Test. Dave is a kind of instructor that pay attention to all details and make sure that we will give back the best of us during the entire courses. I'm looking forward now to do my Advanced Cruising with them.
