As much as I appreciate our larger, chain used bookstore I also remember when they used to have many more locations and were more customer service oriented. Coming to Books Between Friends is a trip back to that almost forgotten era of kind, caring, personal service. On my first trip here I was given a wonderfully complete over-view of their operations, sectioning of books, and most importantly - their hand washing station! This is a business that obviously cares about their employees' health and well-being, and their customers' too. I've been back several times and always found more than I was looking for. A destination business I'll make the trip across the city for any day I need something new to read.

I tried to drop off some books for donation to Books Between Friends today. The guy took one look at the box and literally judged it by the cover. I have 11 books that are in good condition, and he wouldn’t even look at anything because the first book on top was in poor condition. See photo below of books he would not even consider as a donation: Hardcovers, books read once, or not even opened. Apparently they have a policy if there’s even 3-4 books in your batch that are in poor condition they won’t take ANY of them. It seems no good deed goes unpunished.

This is by far the best used book store in Calgary! The nice lady (who is almost blind now!) Is so super outgoing, and the prices are the best, way better than anyone else in town. All the money raised goes to various charitys who btw are also expected to help sort books when it is their day! Go check them out!
