Some months ago my personal restaurant spy alerted me to the presence of a new Italian restaurant, Bistro Barolo, in Rockwood; and, I knew we had to try it. Five of us enjoyed dining together on Saturday evening. Even though I’m not a fan of mussels, I chose the seafood linguine which was excellent - plenty of seafood in a full bodied but not overpowering sauce. My wife chose the cedar smoked salmon, which as it’s named indicated did have a wonderful cedar flavour. A most enjoyable evening. Minor complaint: our coffee-loving friends couldn’t have an espresso because the machine was broken. Hopefully it will be fixed when we next dine here.

Chef Hall, I had the special Bistro Salad and the lamb shanks, so yummy. This exquisite Bistro is high on my list to recommend!
My last experience, over a year ago, was take-out. I remembered it being very pricey for what I got (pasta with vegetables 25). It was okay but felt it could have been better and veggies were undercooked. This past July, with the pandemic going on, I was driving home to Rockwood from a busy day in Guelph. I was tired and didn't feel like making dinner. As I passed BB I saw their OPEN sign was lit up. I was surprised because they didn't seem to be open very often. I thought I'd give them another try and treat myself, knowing it was going to cost more than I could really afford at the time. After reviewing the menu, I settled on the spinach & cheese ravioli in a rose sauce (To Go). I noted that while I was wearing a mask when I went in, the woman I ordered from had one but didn't wear it. She was very friendly and helpful though and after I paid (35.00!!!) she said I could wait in my car and she would bring it out. I waited about 15 mins, thanked her and drove home to eat it. When I got home, tired and starving by this point, I opened the container of ravioli and took a bit. I was pleasantly surprised as it tasted delicious. Then I was suddenly very disappointed as I realized there were only 5 pieces of ravioli in the container! FIVE! 35 it cost me!! I half considered calling them to let them know my disappointment but didn't have the energy or heart to do it. I felt bad because I know they were probably struggling as a business as it is during this pandemic. The only reason I'm posting this now is to let others know ahead of time to ask about the serving size before you order.
Food was so delicious, the staff and service was super friendly and courteous and our bellies were happy after finishing our take out dinner!!
Tuscan sausage is excellent, thank you for fixing the order.
