We enjoyed a nice period approved lunch onsite. The kids even liked some of the food.

I love this place! It is full of history. The village starts from the mid 1800's, after the Acadiens were deported, demonstrating how they lived in their surroundings during that era. The oldest house is 1846. The actors are not just people acting, they take on the persona of the people and take on the responsibilities of their time. They work in the kitchen to make their food, tend to the farm animals that are there, just as they would back then. The livestock are breeds from that era as well. There is no modernization here till you get back to the information centre. It is an all day walk, but could be spread out to 2 days if you wanted to take your time. I enjoyed talking to the people who work there, they are very knowledgeable of that time. My favourite was to see how the flour mill works. It is over 150 years old and still works as well as it did back then! If you love history this is the place to go. Most of the buildings and homes are all original, and we're donated. Each home and building has a story behind it. And incredible stories too! I would love to go back. I took lots of photos, which I don't think I can post all here. One of the places I did not have a chance to try was the restaurant, the menu looks super good. But it was very packed full of people during lunch hours of noon to 3 pm.

If you want to find out Acadian history then that is the place to go. Start by shopping in the store you don't forget to buy your bread first before touring as there won't be any left at the end of the day. Freshly baked in stone ovens. You will need the full day. Workers are dressed in historic garments and make all there meals on site so that every house you visit smells divine. Check out their website. You won't regret your day.
