Prices are killing me. I was going to bring our game (moose, elk, deer) to your shop this this year. I am just retiring from the military and have bought land here in the are. I was looking at your 10.00 energy fee on the bill. . I think the 1000 pounds of meat at .90 C an hour and the cut rapped at 3.50 per pound of pork, I might as well just go get a cow. Or find someone else. I mean nothing bad about what I say. I am stating a fact that others can save some time on research.

Here is my experience with Barrhead Custom Meat Packers and you can make your own conclusions. I strongly suggest you do your own research and talk to a few different butchers to get the best information you can. Having grown up on a small farm I have a basic idea of what you can get out of cow, however I am not a trained butcher with 30 years of experience as was aggressively pointed out to me by the owner Dennis. We took a full beef into Barrhead Custom Meat Packers to be processed. The hanging weight was just over 600 pounds keeping in mind a chunk of this is lost due to removing the bones and excess fat. We requested a couple roasts, as many steaks as possible and the rest hamburger. When we took all the boxes home there was 2 roasts totalling 10.53 pounds and steaks totalling 37.32 pounds. This seamed like a low number to us and so we phoned Barrhead Custom Meat Packers to see if perhaps sowhow some had been misplaced or there was another box or some other simple misunderstanding. The person answering the phone suggest we talk to Dennis the owner who was not in at the time. It took awhile to get in touch with Dennis as he would phone back in the morning when I was working and it seemed he was never in past noon when I would phone. When we finally did talk and the situation was calmly explained, Dennis became quite aggressive. After a bit of discussion he did say the amount of steaks did seem low and that some time in the next couple weeks he would have some extra steaks for us. This was acceptable to us and so we waited. After well over two weeks we phoned back for an update and again we were told he would have something for us in the next couple weeks and would contact us when he did. This cycle repeated for three months and we never recieved a call back from our last message. So you decide if we were treated fairly and ask yourself this question, IF a butcher was to keep five, ten, or even fifty pounds of meat from your animal would you know the difference?
