I was at this place recently with my family. They were following all CoVid protocols and the staff were really friendly and nice and checked on us often. I have to say, the food is simply outstanding. It's not just a few dishes that stand out, but it's really everything you order. All of my families dishes turned out amazing and that's amazing work by the chef team so put out such consistent quality meals.

Quality of food has been always the same for past years. The taste is maybe not 100% authentic to the Afghan food but it sure has its quality. Unfortunately in the past years the service has never improved. You just go there to eat and leave. They also have a small hall in the back that could be rented out. Anytime you have a party at the hall you will only get 2 waitresses no matter if you have 30 people or you have a big party up to 100 guests. It’s family managed and hopefully they will work on all the points above!
One of our family favorites! We always enjoy eating here. Our favorite is the big platter with lots of different varieties of meat, rice and side dishes. Must try the rice with the beef chunks in it. Absolutely delectable! Also a big fan of their fernie dessert! We especially love that it is 100% halal also!
Today in Afghan Chopan Restaurant, I had a great experience as if I were travelling on an exotic land. Pushing open the door and stepping in, I felt like I were somewhere in Afghan. A floor to ceiling glass screen at the entrance. A long sparkling ornament on the wall. A circular light fixture with spot lights on on the ceiling. Two huge pictures of Afghani scenery at both ends. Tow sitting eating areas with rails on either side against the walls. Relaxing Afghani music ringing in the air. All were taking me to a dreamland where I didn’t return to the reality until the waitress came over and asked me what to order. Their food was fantastic! I can tell it’s a popular restaurant, for customers kept coming in during off-peak hours: 3 to 5pm.
While I didn't absolutely dislike the food, I did notice that the food wasn't really authentic Afghan food. A lot of the dishes weren't made the \Afghan\ way. For example, the mantu was made with chicken rather than beef and the bolani was deep fried with a creamy potato filling and nothing else in it. It had Indian food flavor, like the topping sauces tasted more like a curry I would have in Indian food. The service was good, but very much disappointed with the authenticity issue.
