My experience with Firstbase was pleasant at first, but quickly soured. I interviewed for a internship position as a research analyst and was offered the position at my interview. I was lead to believe that the internship would be for a few months and would be paid, and may lead to a full time position. I was shown around the office and met the staff at the Abbotsford location. When being introduced to the staff, MaryAnne Harrison, the Human Resources Director, said that I would be joining the team for the summer. As I was leaving the interview, I asked if I should bring my financial information for payroll on my first shift, scheduled for the next week, to which she replied, yes. I felt very good about the company at this point. The next business day, I was contacted by MaryAnne via email. She stated that the position was now being changed to a 2 weeks full time, or 4 weeks part time, unpaid position. I was surprised by this and then confirmed with her what she had said in the email. The \internship\ was now only a 2 week unpaid position, 4 weeks if I opted to do it part time. MaryAnne misled me throughout the interview, and afterwards, changed what we had discussed. I found this to be unprofessional and disrespectful. I hope that this doesn't happen to any future employees.
