Easy to book, fantastic tour! We arrived and had a chance to play with the dogs - who were all amazing and very friendly. After brief instructions (brakes, verbal signals for the dogs), we kick sled with the dogs around Great Slave Lake and then hiked into the ice caves. The tour finished with another, longer kick sled with photo opportunities along the way. We did this tour privately for our anniversary. Totally appropriate for beginners and a great family activity. It was a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

It was our first time going kicksledding with dogs and we couldn't have found better guides than Richard and his dogs! Our little family (including our 5-yo who was comfortably seated on one of the kicksleds) had a lot of fun exploring Back Bay pulled by Richard's happy and energetic compagnons. Richard's dogs are very friendly and our little one could pet them without being scared. We were a small group – only 4 adults and one kid, plus Richard – which made the adventure even more enjoyable!
Amzing time doing this tour recommend it to all. Beautiful dogs and great instructor!

Super happy with our experience and having an awesome guide really topped it off (Thanks Matt)! An unforgettable experience and I would strongly recommend to anyone. Richard and Matt are super friendly and helpful, always happy to stop the sled to help us take photos. Was different then the generic dog sledding because you are in control of your own dog/s on a kick sled which makes for an exhilarating experience! What I liked best about the tour was the interaction with the dogs before and after and our walking tour to the ice caves! We took the 11am tour which is supposed to be good since the dogs are nice and refreshed and ready to roll. 100% would recommend to anyone! A must do in Yellowknife!
This is a 10/10 operation. We ran into Matt by chance at a hockey event in the city centre. We chatted to him briefly about the company and were stoked about what he had to say. We called in a couple hours later and had a great conversation with the owner, Richard, and booked everything in. It could t have been easier! The adventure itself was a blast. Matt hosted us and walked us through the day-to-day in his life in Yellowknife. He taught us the basic commands and from there we were off. We were thrilled to be set up with our dogs — each has its own unique personality and is so happy to be working! There was a fantastic mid-tour excursion where we got to see a heritage cemetery as well as ice caves. After the tour we went in for hot chocolate and more conversation — a perfect cap on the day. Richard has created a wonderful business and has employed incredible people. I can not recommend these guys enough!!!!
I can't believe how lucky I was to have ended up sitting next to Rich on our plane to Yellowknife. He is such a kind, cheerful and super nice person! We were only in Yellowknife for 3 days and we spent one whole day at his SunDogs Adventures kick sledding with the dogs and snow shoeing across the lake. This was the best experience of my life! The dogs are so friendly and cheerful. Out of all the tours we went on, this was the most fun and interactive. HIGHLY recommend coming here if you're going to Yellowknife. We got so many amazing pictures with the dogs too!!!
Great experience with sundogadventures. Matthew is awesome, very nice & very professional, we have a great time with him. The kicksled dog tour also combine with a hiking tour to see the ice caves, excellent!They focus on Quality not just Quantity, so we have a lot of communication to know this great area. I hope they can work out with more activities, and definitely we will reference them to our friends.
