Helicopter Ride Friday, July 13, 2018 Excellent customer service. Our experience was very pleasant and memorable. Matt called and suggested we move our flight to an earlier time to avoid possible weather build up as this day was our last day in Yellow knife and there was rain and overcast. Matt’s unit was being serviced and they moved us to the Bell 407 helicopter and our pilot was John. We met with several people of the company and all were very friendly and made us feel very welcomed and had great conversations with them. Each grandchild received a surprize gift of a tee shirt each (Nice!). There was a 15-minute safety video prior to the flight. I had the front seat and the three grandchildren and their mom sat in the back section. With the altitude flown, and lower window, I got a great birds eye view of the ground. We were also at the right height where we were able to see great detail. As there was overcast, this prevented us from going over the city but we were able to fly along the west side of the city, where the ceiling was higher. We flew over the lake to the Detah First Nations Community and continued north over the lake along the east side of Yellowknife. Heading to Yellowknife Bay we flew over an area being reclaimed as it was contaminated by the previous gold mining company. From there, we can see the bridge spanning highway 4, Saw some rapids along the river towards Prosperous Lake and flew over Squirrel Point. John, the pilot pointed out where the race track was back in the day. I found that interesting. For the remainder of the flight we travelled overland to the quarry west of Yellowknife bay and back to the Airport. Overall, a smooth and comfortable ride. Thank you for the great service!
