As a current member, Me, my wife & kids all thoroughly enjoy living here. It is a great place where everyone wants to build an active community. We moved from the suburbs where it was pleasant, but autonomous. Here people want to get involved, they want to stop and chat with neighbors, they say Hi to each other and build a safe and fun place we all call home. It has great facilities for our 3 young children who enjoy playing outside in a large open playground (privately owned by the co-operative) and next to a public park with large open grassy area for more running around. Brighton Yards owns garden tools, lawn mowers, snow shovels and other tools that are all accessible to members. I love this aspect of Brighton Yards because everyone on the block doesn't need a lawnmower, just a few that can be shared. It is a community where everyone is doing what they can for the community at large.

Terrible place to live. Central group picks on others. Very unfriendly. Snobs. Exclusive little group controls everything and everyone. Don’t even look at it. No repairs. Worst experience of my life. They evicted me with no legal reason. Evicting people all the time for the sport of it. Bunch of whack jobs. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. Control freaks who literally pick on someone all the time and illegally harass and evict people regularly.
This could be a very nice co-op with the change of a new board elected in.These people (on the board) are causing havoc. In the meantime we've had no end of trouble with bedbugs, the firing of a selection of all handymen. They have now fired the coordinator who was doing a fine job despite all the obstacles put in her way. They are now going about evicting people with no grounds whatsoever. I am one that they are trying to evict. I've lived here (alone) for 23 years. I have never been late in my rent and have caused no disturbances. This will all be reported to the proper official(s) but until then be very wary about renting here.
