I have been singing with Serge since 2016. He is not only knowledgeable, but dedicated to each of his students, and actually passionate about what he does in a way that is very rare to find. Before Serge, I had studied with other teachers for nearly ten years. Although I loved to sing, I was never happy with the way I sounded. Nor did I ever feel in control of my own voice. I would constantly run out of breath, my voice was thin and strained, and singing high notes would often be painful. Serge helped all of that change. He had to un-teach me several years of bad singing habits - which he did, with unwavering support and dedication. Within less than a year, I felt like a completely different singer. Not only did I sound better and stronger, but singing was easier and more enjoyable for me than it had ever been. Now, my technique has improved to such an extent that I am finally, consistently happy hearing myself. My technique, my breath control, and the strength of my voice have all improved so much that I can sometimes barely believe it. Serge’s knowledge, support, intuition, his sense of humour, and his faith in me have all been invaluable. He has transformed what had been a frustrating hobby into a meaningful and therapeutic part of my life, a source of confidence and inspiration. I feel incredibly lucky to be singing with him, and intend to do so for many years to come.

When I first met Serge 2.5 years ago, I had been constantly losing my voice out of strain for months. Singing had become painful and discouraging, and I wasn’t making any progress as a vocalist. From my very first lesson with Serge, I could tell he was deeply passionate about and dedicated to his craft and the art of bel canto. Over the following months, he expertly broke down bel canto technique for me, making tangible the highly internal process of producing a well-supported, resonant, and beautiful sound. I have consistently found him to be a truly gifted teacher with great intuition for responding to each student’s individual growth. He is kind, positive, and gracious while still challenging us to reach our full potential as vocalists. Friends and family have been stunned at my progress so far, and I have found Serge’s lessons echo beyond my singing into the rest of my life. My whole relationship to my voice (and the fascinating internal systems that support it) has changed. Instead of pain and discouragement, singing now brings a deep catharsis and new artistic freedom. Serge has a deep understanding of both Bel Canto technique and how to teach others in said technique. His expertise is rare to find. Serge is particularly talented with teaching beginners - in the course of less than a year, I have found my singing ability to improve by leaps and bounds.
