We rented a cottage at Qualicum Landing In July 2016 through Life's the Beach. We had a very nice stay at the site however we had questions about the billing, specifically a processing fee of 95 added without explanation. We called and emailed no less that 9 times over 4 weeks to inquire about this charge. A month later, after leaving a message stating that we would be reporting them to the BBB we received a very brisk return call stating that "everyone charges a processing fee". We found the services of Life the Beach very unsatisfactory and will not be using their services in future.

I couldn't even book the rental as it was such a hassle. The posted price on their website was not what they actually wanted to charge me. Then after a week of waiting to hear from the owner, they then said they wanted us to take different dates, even though the ones we wanted were listed as open. They also suggested we take a different unit which was twice the price. This is a very unprofessional service and I will definitely be looking elsewhere.
AVOID THIS SERVICE. BUYER BEWARE!! We were downgraded from a three bedroom to a two bedroom unit without notification. We discovered the problem when the owner of the unit we thought we had rented answered the door when we arrived and told us that he had taken his unit out of the rental pool. When we looked at the check-in instructions sent the day before our holiday by LIFES THE BEACH, the unit number had indeed been switched without our notification. No phone call, no big bold writing on the check in document outlining the change. When we contacted the booking service they told us it wasn't their problem and we could cancel our reservation. Unlikely as we were in Parkville with our family for a wedding on a long weekend My wife and I had to book a hotel room which cost us an additional 520.00 ( we had to change hotel rooms once due to lack of vacancy) . We sent LIFES THE BEACH the hotel bills asking for some form of compensation. They had the audacity to suggest that we send our bill to the owner who had taken his unit out of the rental pool as it was his problem. There is so much wrong here that all I can suggest is that if you use this service its at your own peril
